USDA Grant Awarded! Viva 1 of 62 to share $9.7 million
Great news for veteran, tribal, and immigrant family farmers: On December 3, US Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced a $9.7 million award in grants to 62 community-based, non-profit, and educational institutions – and we’re one of them! Known as the “2501 Program,” the award is dedicated for institutional programs that “conduct training, outreach and technical assistance for socially disadvantaged” farmers and ranchers. Viva is partnering with community organizations to carry out this important work. Stay tuned for future updates, but for now, celebrate another victory for minority farmers.
